Calendar and Contact Information
Deborah Wiles

Thank you for your wonderful mail. Due to my travel schedule, book deadlines, family dramas (oy!), and the very welcome volume of mail, I am a very slow responder. Well... I am a slow responder, anyway; always have been, always will be. I like to say that I correspond with my heart, and that is true.

Many years ago, a wise teacher taught me that the payoff and real meaning of a letter well-written was found in the sending of that letter, regardless of the reply. I slowly learned to understand that truth, as John Lennon, Micky Dolenz, Robert Kennedy, Petula Clark, Jean-Claude Killy, Nikita Khruschchev, and Martin Luther King, Jr. did not write me back. Not that my mail is of their volume, but I came to understand that a response (or lack thereof) wasn't about them; it was about my need to communicate. I hope you come to that same understanding. I am probably at least six months (maybe closer to a year -- I just can't believe that) behind in answering mail, although I read every single letter I receive with a glad heart and great gratitude, I truly do. I read with Big Love and Great Thanks. Thank you for writing.

All regular (snail) mail should go through this address, while the Houghton Mifflin/Harcourt merger is being finalized:

School and Conference inquiries should be sent to Kia Neri, Harcourt's Author Promotions Goddess, at this email address, until June 30, 2008, at which time we'll figure out who to send requests to:

Kia.Neri@harcourt.com

and you should cc your email to this address to make sure I get it, too:

inquiry@deborahwiles.com

Again... thanks for writing. And reading.
